ship pirate a years from 1 When meant -- of 40 broadcasting BBC radio

Before the start of BBC 1 in 1967, the only way you could hear rock music in the UK over the radio was from ships anchored three miles off the coast, broadcasting pirate radio stations. How this all changed, and how it shows yet again how the record companies just don't get it -- exposure, in any form, is good for the artist.
