The nominees: Kit Kittredge, Gran Torino, Battle in Seattle, Take Out, The Garden. 10. time Directors Guild winner Clint Eastwood missed out on a nomination this time. Eastwood had two films out in 2008, "Changeling" and "Gran Torino." Gran Torino may be “less serious” than Changeling, but it’sa better film, even overlooking its more obvious pleasures. though why anyone would pass them up, I don't know. Also opening this Friday s GranTorino.
